4 Sep 2006: Rowad Al-Etkan pays back 50% of the PMP exam fees to Mr. Khalid Ghanem. Mr. Khalid lessons learned on how he studied to pass the exam:

I'd like to provide you with more insights on my lessons learned from the PMP certification experience. I hope that someone will benefit from it.
1- I’ve been looking for a PMP course locally for a while till
saw the advertisement about RowadPM’s PMP Exam Prep
course in Riyadh. Due to my work circumstances, the
timing of the course was very suitable. The course fee was
very competitive compared to what it offers as we were
provided with two best study guides as well as about 800
slides notebook. We also enjoyed a buffet dinner in the
hotel by the pool after class during which we socialised
with other Project Managers from different industries and
companies. Add to that a great instructor who is
professional and determined to give you all what he could
to make you benefit from this course

2- Even though it was a bit hectic as I finish work at 5:30pm
and start the class at 6:00pm, I’ve managed to benefit
from it. Besides, it’s good to stretch yourself to the limits
                from time to time.

3- As I was busy during the day at work, I did not have time
to review each lecture on a daily basis. However, someone
could manage to use the weekend to review the past
week’s material as the course lasted for two weeks.

4- A week after the class, I started reviewing the slides which
took me about 10 hours over three days. I have then
started reading Kim’s Study Guide Book one chapter a day
with an avg. of two and half hours a day. I also solved the
questions at end of each chapter each day. After finishing
the book, I took the two 75-questions Practice Exam in
                the CD, one per day.

5- Later, I started the application process which is a long
detailed application about the projects you worked on
with numbers of hours you spend in each process. It took
me about six hours to complete this over three days. After
completing the application online, it took a week for PMI
to respond by email and tell me that I am eligible to pay
for the exam, but I have also been selected for a random
audit. I was not really expecting this; however, this was
not really bad. In the audit, you simply have to print a
package (PDF file) that they send you which contain a
page or two about each project you wrote in your
application, and then you need to get it signed by
someone who was familiar with the project or from your
supervisor. You also have to attach a copy of the course
attendance certificate and your Bachelor degree diploma.
You can expect a reply a week after mailing those
                required papers.

6- After receiving my notification for passing the audit, I’ve
scheduled my exam online using www.2test.com in
Riyad’s New Horizon’s Techniyat Building in Main Olaya
Road. I scheduled the exam on a Saturday, so that I have
the weekend to review. On the weekend before the
exam, I read the PMBOK, and reviewed whatever needs
to be memorized on Friday. On Saturday, my exam
started from 12:00noon. I took a break at two to pray
Zuhur. My exam technique is just one pass, and I was
able to finish in three hours and fifteen minutes.

7- My manager and project sponsor have congratulated me
for passing the exam. The knowledge I’ve gained
changed the way I will plan my next project for sure. I
also have realized that I could’ve done some things
differently in my current project if I have taken this
course earlier. The PMP knowledge has also given me
interest in learning more details about some specific tools
and techniques such as conflicts management.

17 Aug 2006: Rowad Al-Etkan pays back full amount of the PMP exam fees to Mr. Anas Assiri. Mr. Assiri lessons learned on how he studied to pass the exam:

1- Start always with the name of Allah, rely on him, pray,               know that you will use this not only for your self but also for others

1- Start always with the name of Allah, rely on him, pray, know that you will use this not only for your self but also for others

2- Attend the course with a very clear objectives, narrow your goals to a very specific point, don't try to win everything at once

3- Attend the course fresh and active, sleep well, eat well, and never get distorted during the course

4- 70% of your understanding will be during the course, the rest will come from your own study, so concentrate as much as you can

5- Feel well and attend with a positive attitude

6- Do your best to help colleagues, as much as you give others as much you will get, that is a fact!!

7- Study the handouts day by day, keep notes and questions

8- After finishing the course, I started a very concentrated study plan with my brother (we formed a small study group), we used to set together for about 4 - 5 hours daily for 10 days (i.e. total 40-50 study hours) reading and "discussing" the handouts, I think those discussions were the most useful part of my study plan

9- Set a time for your exam, pay the fees and prepare yourself even if you haven't finished studying, this will force you to do your best, never say I will take the exam some time next month, or next year!! Defining the exam date have a very strong effect on your energy to study

10- Go to the exam very very relaxed, take it as a challenge, and try to do your best

11- The exam prep tips are very useful, keep them in your mind all the time, specially the exam strategy, it is 100% proofing to be valid
